WoW Classic+ · Status & Class Guide

What class should you play in WoW Classic+?

Short answer: nobody knows yet, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. Here is what Classic+ actually means, what is confirmed versus rumoured, and what to play while we wait.

Last reviewed 28 August 2026

Blizzard has not announced Classic+. There is no release date, no feature list, and no class changes — because there is no announced product. Every "Classic+ class tier list" you find today is built on speculation.

What people mean by "Classic+"

Classic+ — also written Classic Plus — is a player term, not a Blizzard one. It describes a hypothetical version of Classic WoW that adds new content to the original game — new zones, dungeons, class abilities, itemisation — rather than moving forward through the expansions that already exist.

The appeal is straightforward: people who love Vanilla's pace and design want more of it, not a march toward retail. The argument against is equally straightforward: once you start adding, you are designing a new game, and reasonable people disagree about where Vanilla stops being Vanilla.

What Classic you can actually play today

"Classic" is now several games at once, which is part of why the Classic+ conversation is so muddled:

So which class should you pick?

Here is the useful part. Classic class identity is remarkably stable — a Warrior tanks and hits things, a Priest heals and dots, a Rogue opens from stealth. That has held through Vanilla, through Season of Discovery, and through every private-server take on Classic+ anyone has built.

Which means the question worth answering now is not "what is the Classic+ meta" — that does not exist — but "which Classic class actually suits how I like to play". That answer will still be right when Classic+ arrives, whatever shape it takes.

When Classic+ is announced

A Classic+ class quiz will go up here once Blizzard says what the classes look like. Not before — building it now would mean inventing class changes, and a quiz built on invented data is worse than no quiz.

Anyone who owns Pro gets it at no extra cost, along with every other quiz added later. That is the deal: buy once, get everything that follows.

Common questions

Has Blizzard announced Classic+?

No. As of August 2026 there is no announced product by that name.

What is the Classic Plus release date?

There isn't one. No announcement means no date, and any site listing a Classic Plus release date is inventing it. This page is reviewed whenever Classic news breaks, so if that changes it will say so here.

Is Season of Discovery Classic+?

Not officially, but it is the closest thing shipped — Vanilla with new abilities and reworked encounters. If you want a Classic+ feel today, that is where to look.

Will my Vanilla class still be good in Classic+?

Unknowable, since no changes have been announced. But if you pick on playstyle rather than a tier list, the answer tends to survive patches — which is the entire idea behind the quiz.
